Certification Renewal
MARYLAND VICTIM ASSISTANCE CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS
Victim Services Professional (VSP) Renewal Certification Levels
A tiered renewal process is in place for service providers who wish to maintain their Victim Services Professional (VSP) certification and remain current in the field.
VSP Level I – Renewal
Applicants must:
- Complete 40 hours of continuing education within the past three (3) years; and
- Submit a completed renewal application packet and pay the $25 renewal fee.
VSP Level II – Renewal (Without Upgrade)
Requirements are the same as VSP Level I – Renewal.
VSP Level II – Upgrade from Level I
Applicants seeking to upgrade must:
- Complete 40 hours of continuing education within the past three (3) years, including three (3) hours of Ethics in Victim Services;
- Complete a written essay; and
- Submit a completed renewal application packet and pay the $50 renewal fee.
VSP Level III – Renewal (Without Upgrade)
Requirements are the same as VSP Level I – Renewal.
VSP Level III – Upgrade from Level II
Applicants seeking to upgrade must:
- Complete 40 hours of continuing education within the past three (3) years, including three (3) hours of Ethics in Victim Services;
- Complete an oral presentation; and
- Submit a completed renewal application packet and pay the $75 renewal fee.
